Laura Rivas

Laura Rivas RN BSN is our Wesley Nurse. She is employed by Methodist Healthcare Ministries of San Antonio in their Wesley Nurse Health Ministries program, but lives here in Corpus and her office is located on site at St. Luke’s UMC.

This outreach program, based on the Parish Nursing premise, facilitates health-related services as well as social and spiritual services by placing registered nurses in churches. Mrs. Rivas provides education, screenings and health counseling to groups and/or individuals. She supervises six registered nurses working in the community and spends much of her time in the local community providing care. All services are free and open to the community.

Wesley Nurse and Related Services Also Include:

Rebekah's Cupboard: Food aid for anyone in need. Our food pantry provides canned and packaged goods to assist anyone needing food. Rebekah's cupboard is open the first Wednesday of every month from 1 to 3pm.

Diabetes Education. Our Diabetes education program is free, but appointments are necessary. If you or someone you love has Diabetes and would like more information about the disease, please contact Laura Rivas at 361-854-5374.

Financial Assistance. St. Luke's has a history of compassionate and responsible financial assistance. Beyond the wellness and food assistance, limited financial assistance is occasionally available through two programs, one for those 60 or older and the the other for those under 60 and living in the 78404 or 78411 zip code. Assistance is dependent upon specific circumstances and the available resources. Please contact our administrative assistant, Carol Pearson, at 861-854-5374 for more information.
