The ‘St. Luke’s Welcoming’ Section

Greeters Needed for Sundays

St. Luke’s is in need of greeters for its Sunday services. Anyone interested should contact Harmon Stoops at hcstoops1@gmail.com.

We currently need 2 greeters for each door to the church and 2 greeters in the church parking lot in order to make Sunday worship as inviting as as pleasant as can be. These greeters are needed for the traditional service which begins at 11:00 a.m. on Sundays. All who volunteer to greet should plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before the service begins.

All Members Invited To New “Welcoming Committee” Meeting Nov. 17

All St. Luke’s members interested in helping the church improve the way it welcomes visitors are invited to attend the first meeting of a new “Welcoming Committee,” Thursday night (Nov. 17) in room 109.

The new group is open to anyone with an interest. It will be a sub-committee of the church’s Outreach Committee which has taken on “welcoming” as one of its basic projects for the immediate future. Improving welcoming has also been a large part of the church’s annual goals since at least 2009.

The Welcoming Committee’s main focus from the start will be to ensure  the church is ready to adequately greet the many new visitors expected to arrive on Sundays throughout the upcoming Christmas season and into early 2012.

For more information about the new group, please contact organizer Cherly Cudd. Her email address is cherylcudd@marykay.com. Anyone who cannot attend the meeting is welcome to use the comments section of this article to share his or her ideas for how St. Luke’s can improve its welcoming practices.
